چکیده

Various larvae of Lepidoptera cause severe damage to maize crops. The dynamics these pests have been studied during all stages plant development. trial was carried out on the Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët-Boigny farm plots in Yamoussoukro (central Cote d’Ivoire). study aims were monitor dynamics, determine importance (frequency and abundance), assess Lepidopteran variety EV8728 SR using a randomized complete block design with four replicates. sown 05 September 2020. Insects characterized keys following on-site observation capture plants. Five species, grouped into three families, counted plots. Spodoptera frugiperda most frequent (Occurrence C = 20.9%) highly abundant (Relative Abundance Ar 65.79%). other species rare (C < 5%). However, Sesamia calamistis very (Ar=15.22%), while Eldana saccharina (Ar 9.44%) Ostrinia nubilalis 5.25%) abundant. Helicoverpa zea is scarcely (Ar=4.3%). Furthermore, (E. saccharina, O. nubilalis, H. zea) as minor (Damage Index I 10%), S. important pest (I 25%) major (I< 75%). populations insects fluctuated crop mean dried grain yield varied from 2.4±0.42 2.61±0.71 t/ha. Populations their appeared more than those Lepidoptera. Knowledge lepidopteran essential for effectively efficiently controlling improving quality quantity production.

Damage Caused by Wheeled Skidders on Cambisols of Central Europe

Machine traffic and timber skidding significantly affect the soil surface and soil properties. The effects are mostly negative and result in soil erosion, worsening of soil properties and inhibition of the growth of roots and soil organisms. In this study, we evaluated forest soil damage caused by the HSM 805 HD wheeled skidder during timber skidding in selected forest stands in the School Fore...

How susceptible are different lepidopteran/coleopteran maize pests to Bt-proteins: a systematic review protocol

Background: Lepidopteran and coleopteran species are the most important pests in maize. They can be controlled using genetically modified crops expressing insecticidal Bt-proteins. The long term success of this technology demands a pest resistance management. Important information for a successful management of resistance is the baseline susceptibility of the different targeted pests towards th...

High Susceptibility of Bt Maize to Aphids Enhances the Performance of Parasitoids of Lepidopteran Pests

Concerns about possible undesired environmental effects of transgenic crops have prompted numerous evaluations of such crops. So-called Bt crops receive particular attention because they carry bacteria-derived genes coding for insecticidal proteins that might negatively affect non-target arthropods. Here we show a remarkable positive effect of Bt maize on the performance of the corn leaf aphid ...

The effect of silicon on reducing oxidative damage caused by cadmium in wheat in hydroponic conditions

Abstract: The use of silicon has been considered as an effective strategy in reduce of cd uptake and affecting the oxidative damage caused by cd toxicity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the presence silicon (0.1 mM/L) and different levels of cadmium (0.10, 50 μmol/L) in wheat plants under hydroponic conditions. The results showed that increasing the concentration of cd...

Illustrated larval key to lepidopteran pests of rice in Malaysia.

Here we provide an illustrated key to lepidopteran larvae that occur as pests on rice (Oryza) in Malaysia. We are unaware of a published key for this region for this vital commercial crop, and hence provide one based on easily observable features that could be useful for identification, early detection, and pest management by specialists and non-specialists alike (see discussion in Mukerji & Si...
